Candy Cane Lane in Woodland Hills has been a community favorite since 1952. It is one of the top Christmas light displays in Los Angeles California. Located in the west part of the San Fernando Valley, take 101 freeway and exit at Winnetka Avenue. When you see Pierce Junior College, you will know you are in the general vicinity. Due to crowds and traffic jams, residents have asked in the past that visitors view the homes between the hours of 7:00PM and 9:00PM, definitely no later than 10:00PM during the week and 11:00PM on weekends. If unable to get past the traffic jam, you may also park and walk, thereby enjoying the displays leisurely by foot. If you are lucky you just might see Santa eager to take pictures with children.
Another top Christmas light display in Los Angeles is the Altadena's Christmas Tree Lane display located on Santa Rose Avenue between Woodbury and Altadena Drive. This particular light display has been a tradition since 1920. Visitors may view the Christmas light display beginning the second Saturday in December through January 1st, 2007, between the hours of 5:30PM and 9:30PM during the week. It will be open until midnight on weekends. To get to Christmas Tree Lane, take the 134 freeway in Pasadena and exit Fair Oaks traveling north to Woodbury where you will make a right, and then a left on Santa Rosa Avenue. Santa will be available to take pictures at the corner of Mariposa and Santa Rosa Avenue. The 134 Italian Cedar trees are decorated annually transforming the area into the magical Christmas Tree Lane. There are also usually Christmas carolers in the area making this one of the best Christmas light displays in Los Angeles.

While Los Angeles may not have a traditional "White Christmas", it certainly does not leave you wanting of one. Diving into this city during the holid
Arguably one of the best lights displays in the country is at The Grove, a centrally located mall featuring a semi-outdoor arcade of shops and restaurants. It's not your typical box-type mall, and there's plenty of strolling in the chilly outdoor breezes, but the festive atmosphere more than makes up for it. Store hours are typically extended for the holidays, and there are lots of stalls and carts selling Christmas-themed treats and gadgets. There's a spectacular 60-some foot authentic Christmas tree-one of the largest you will ever see (they say it's even taller than the one at the Rockefeller center)-that lights up spectacularly at night. The entire complex then seems to be encapsulated in a magical glow as lights blaze from every nook and cranny. There's also an electric sleigh that takes shoppers for a leisurely ride around the complex. The scene is sure to take your breath away!
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power also puts up their own lights display every Christmas, with a mile-long exhibit along Griffith Park. Each lighted miniature commemorates famous local landmarks, most notably the Hollywood Bowl, the historic Hollywood sign, the Venice Boardwalk, Staples Center, and the Los Angeles City Hall, among others.

Christmas light decoration is a tradition. It known that the light symbolizes the light that Jesus Christ cast upon the people lives. The fruit of redemption is symbolized by the crystal balls; the victory of spring over the darkness of winter is symbolized by the electric lights of the candles.
Outdoor Christmas decoration is very important part of the Christmas decoration even if not as much as the home decoration. The people can decorate their lawn, garden or patio in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. This will give an extraordinary look to the outdoor area of their homes.

Christmas lights ideas
(Lets lights, light up your Christmas)
Use a combination of candles and lights for Christmas decor.Lighting has almost taken over Christmas candles as they burn for longer periods of time and are comparably safer for decoration purposes. Especially Christmas trees have turned more charming, sparkling and magical with light strands illuminating them. With time, the art of installing Christmas lights has evolved to the level where it has become an art in itself. Lets see how to choose the color or combination of color of lights, check for the load of electricity that you can safely use, the different patterns in which to arrange the strings of light and how to install Christmas lights.
(These types of Innovative lights will definetly add to your Christmas decor)
Here are the tips to use:
- The most common color combinations appropriate for the Christmas season include red, green and copper lights that denote festivity; blue and green lights for more subdued arrangements; novelty combinations such as blue and red lights; and mauve, blue and copper lights.
- While you can use a combo of as many as five colors for coniferous trees, use not more than three colors for deciduous trees.
- Any color of light used with white does not show itself well, so if are planning to use white lights, stick to the monochromatic scheme.
- Use low watt bulbs for strings and indoor light decoration but you will need high watt bulbs for outdoor decorations and lights that will be viewed from a distance.
- Dip the socket end of the light bulb in petroleum jelly before fitting it into the socket string. This will prevent corrosion in the socket and will make it easier to pull out the bulb from it later.
- Tape all connections well with electrical tape to avoid short-circuits.
- Lights installed on the trees to keep up with its growth look quite graceful.
Do not try to climb the branches of the tree you want to decorate. Use stepladder instead.
- Work on the tree from top to bottom and from inside to outside for ease of work and safety purposes.
The best advice when it comes to Christmas decorating is "plan ahead". Decide whether you plan to use Christmas decors both indoors and outdoors, how many you'll need and where you'll place them. Decide whether each room will have a unique decor theme or if one theme will carry from room to room. As you can see there is a lot to consider when it comes to Christmas decorating. While some people love the spontaneous approach, others hate it. If you're one of the latter, make a detailed plan. This is especially true if you have a sophisticated theme in mind for your Christmas decors. Everyone has driven past lawns with the most beautifully laid out decor. Do you think they just threw those decor up? Probably not. They were probably working from a rough floor plan.
(Lights add new dimensions to outdoor christmas decor)
You Can’t Go Wrong
If, however, you're a spontaneous decorator, simply go where your imagination takes you. Does the stairway need some garland? Sure, why not! How about a mantle full of nutcracker dolls? Maybe some Christmas candles on that table would look great. When it comes to Christmas decorations, there is no right or wrong way to approach it. Christmas is a rich holiday full of many diverse traditions. Express it in the way that is uniquely you; use any or as many Christmas decor as you want
